Checking Yourself

How often do you go about your day — checking yourself? I don’t mean your looks, but your behavior, your language, your walk in righteousness.

When we are in church with our fellow worshippers, we watch what we say. We make it our business to be careful to put on our best behavior. Why? And who are we fooling?! We are fooling ourselves, not others. We are trying to please man.

We put on a facade to appear to be something that we are not in the presence of those who are just like us. Be reminded, that there is none good — not one, but God.

Our pleasing should be to God, not man. When we put on our best behavior in front of others, know that God knows you better than you know yourself. Before you walked in the presence of your fellow worshippers, God saw and heard everything you said and did. He knows your flaws.

The good you put on in front of others, can last longer than just a little while. We are not to be men-pleasers, but pleasers of God. Therefore, be perfect in Christ by reading the word of God, following Christ, praying and meditating on His word, wanting to know Him and having a personal relationship with God. Then your little while, will turn into a lifestyle.

Galatians 1:10 (KJV) – for do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

Mark 10:18 (KJV) – and Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

Romans 3:12 (KJV) – they are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Proverbs 5:21 (KJV) – for the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings.

Proverbs 15:3 (KJV) – the eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

Matthew 5:48 (KJV) – be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Cash In On The Word

The things of the world are always changing. And we, are always changing.

Can you imagine if God changed like we did? His mind is never made up. One day he wants to be honest with us, the next day he doesn’t. One moment he loves us, the next moment he doesn’t love us. Some days he’s with us, somes days he’s not.

We would be in a world of trouble if God’s behavior was like ours. Thank God that He doesn’t change. That He is the same all the time. That He keeps his promises. And that he will do what he said he would do.

One thing is for certain, God’s word is a sure foundation. We can take his word to the bank — every time!

Titus 1:2 (KJV) – in hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.

Romans 8:39 (KJV) – not height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Hebrews 13:5 (KJV) – let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Hebrews 13:8 (KJV) – Jesus Christ the same yesterday, to day, and for ever.

II Corinthians 1:20 (KJV) – for all the promises of God in him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

Romans 4:21 (KJV) – and being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

Think About What You’re Thinking About

Our mind is filled with so many things. Cluttered with things that we shouldn’t be thinking about.

God’s word says that our affections should be on things above, not on things on earth. That our thoughts should be pure, honest, and true.

Those things that we think in our heart, is who we are. If we think positive, we will speak positive, nurturing to others and food for the soul. But, if we think negative, we will speak negative, damaging ourselves, and not helpful to others.

Be mindful. Think about what you’re thinking about, and be transformed by renewing your mind with the word of God.

Colossians 3:2 (KJV) – set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Philippians 4:8 (KJV) – finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things,

Proverbs 23:7 (KJV) – for as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink saith he to thee: but his heart is not with thee.

Romans 12:2 (KJV) – and be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

There Is Honour In Serving

Whatever our calling is, it is meant for others, to help others. We are here to do the job God has called us to do.

There are some things we believe are our calling, that clearly does not line up with the word of God. But, when God calls us to do something, we quickly dismiss it because we don’t feel adequate to do the job, or for some other excusable reason.

Some of our excuses are trivial. Either we don’t want to give up our time, our money, or of ourselves.

What we fail to realize is, when God calls us to do something, it is for both ourselves and for someone else. He has fully equipped us to do the job He has called us to do. It is ourselves who feel like we can’t do what we are called to do. But it is God telling us, we can.

We must stop putting off what God is calling us to do. It is when we serve that we receive the blessings of God, and move forward in our purpose.

I Thessalonians 5:24 (KJV) faithful is he that called you, who also will do it.

Philippians 1:6 (KJV) – being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

John 12:26 (KJV) – if any man serve me let him follow me: and where I am there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

Check Your Pride

Are you ashamed of the gospel? Are you ashamed to pray in front of others? Are you ashamed to bless your food in public?

If we are ashamed, then we’re ashamed of God, therefore, we are denying him. His word say, if we deny him, he will deny us.

When we deny God, it’s our pride, pleasing the flesh. Check your pride. You don’t want to allow your pride to get in the way of yourself, to the point that you are denied by God. You don’t want God to say to you, go away, I never knew you.

II Timothy 2:12 (KJV) – if we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us.

Proverbs 11:2 (KJV) – when pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

Matthew 7:23 (KJV) – and then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

For God’s Glory

Whatever we do, we are to do them all to the glory of God. When things happen in our lives, they are for our good and for God’s glory. We, for the most part, look at the “our good”, and not the “God’s glory”.

We tend to take the glory from God and put it on ourselves. We turn God into “I”. I did this, and I did that.

The trials we have come out of, are not trials that “we” have conquered, but what God has done in and through us. What we have experienced is a testimonial to help someone else, to give God the glory. To show and tell how God has used us to strengthen our faith through and in our struggle.

Remember, God is to be glorified, not you.

I Corinthians 10:31 (KJV) – whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Revelation 14:7 (KJV) – saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

Walk On Purpose

We must be careful, in everything,. Especially, who we allow to govern our thoughts, and our lives. We will either walk in the Spirit, or we will walk in the flesh.

Choosing to walk in the Spirit, takes effort to do it on purpose. Walking in the flesh doesn’t take any effort, and has no purpose.

When we choose to cast out satan and walk in the Spirit, remember, he will come back. And if we are not filled with the word of God, when satan returns, he will bring 7 more evil spirits. And we will be worse then we were before.

Therefore, keep your mind filled with the word of God, and walk in the Spirit, so we will not be guided by the flesh.

Philippians 4:6 (KJV ) – be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God.

Luke 11:24-26 (KJV) – when the unclean Spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through fry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he sanity, I will return unto my house whence I came out. And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and rage last State of that man is worse than the first.

Galatians 5:16 (KJV) – this I say them walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Know It And Own It

We must always know who we are. Satan doesn’t want us to be reminded of who we are, because when we speak it, he gets less attention and less power.

God choose you before the foundation of the world! He ordained you! He adopted you, and made you joint heirs with Christ!

You are a child of God! You are more than a conqueror! You are fearfully and wonderfully made! You can do all things through Christ! No weapon shall form against you. God gave you power over all the enemy.

Speak this daily about yourself, it’s the truth. Know it, and own it!

Ephesians 1:4 (KJV) – according as he hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.

John 15: 16 (KJV) – ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you.

Ephesians 1:5 (KJV) – having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.

Romans 8:17 (KJV) – and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Romans 8;16 (KJV) – the Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.

Romans 8:37 (KJV) – Nay, in all things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

Psalm 139:14 (KJV) – I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

Philippians:13 (KJV) – I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Isaiah 54;17 (KJV) – no weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgement thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.

Luke 10:19 (KJV) – behold, I give unto you power to trend on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

God Is With You

Some of us feel lonely. Those who are single, and even those who are in a relationship, feel lonely. God is always with us, therefore, we should never feel lonely.

We are never alone. Even when we think we are — we are not. Our Father is always with us. We can’t hide from ourselves, and we can’t hide from God because he said, he will never leave us.

God knows what we are going to do, before we do it. God knows what we are going to say, before we say it. God knows our every thoughts, before we think it. Because He is with us.

So, those times when you think you are alone, remember, God is with you — always.

Hebrews 13:5 (KJV) – let you conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Psalm 139:2-4 (KJV) – thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.

Matthew 28:20 (KJV) – teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Add Fruit To Your Life

Our flesh fight against the Spirit, because the flesh is filled with envy and strife, jealousy, anger, adultery, fornication, which leads to destruction, and are not of God, but of the flesh.

To have a life of abundance, we must learn to add fruits to our lives by walking in the Spirit, which is filled with love, joy, peace, goodness, faith, and meekness, which are of God.

Let us learn, daily, to walk in the Spirit, and not in the flesh, on purpose.

Galatians 5:16-25 (KJV) – this I say then, walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other; so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envying, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Burn the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
